I rolled my eyes. “Please don’t remind me about that night. I’ll never forget you falling for as long as I live.”

“Technically, I didn’t fall,” she said. “I was pushed.”

I shuddered, my hand unconsciously stroking my stomach.

“And if I hadn’t gone ass over tit, you wouldn’t have met the love of your life.”

  I sighed. “I can’t argue with that.”

It was weird to think that something so good could come out of a horrible situation like that. As I was nearly eight months pregnant, I’d considered not going to the concert, especially when I remembered what had happened to Jen two years previously. However, that had been a much smaller gig, not nearly as well organized as this one. Plus, it was Colton’s last gig before he and the guys took six months off to hit the studio so it would be the last time I’d get to see him sing live for quite some time—especially considering the fact that we’d have a newborn to look after and probably wouldn’t have a lot of time for much else for some time.

In the end though, it had been Jen who had persuaded me to go. She was a couple of weeks further along in her pregnancy than I was in mine, and she insisted on going. I figured if she was okay with it after what had happened to her last time, then I would be okay with it too.

Now, as I gazed up at the stage, watching Colton put his heart and soul into each and every song, I was both relieved and grateful I’d let Jen talk me into it. I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this for the world.

After the song ended, Colton addressed the screaming crowd.

“Hey y’all! I hope you’re having a great time with us here tonight!”

He was answered with a chorus of whoops and cheers.

“I’d like to dedicate the next song to my beautiful wife, Liv who’s just a month away from making me a daddy!

“It was her birthday yesterday so if you’ll all join me in singing Happy Birthday to her then I’ll sing her favorite song next, Sweet Embrace. What do you all say?”

The crowd went wild, louder than they’d been all night.

I blinked up at the stage, a lump in my throat and my cheeks on fire as Colton and the eighty thousand strong crowd behind us sang Happy Birthday to me. I’d always enjoyed a quiet life—had never wanted to stand out in a crowd or felt the need to make myself heard. Whereas Jen craved attention, I shied away from it. But as I stared at the beautiful man up on stage while tens of thousands of people sang out my name, there was no place in the world I would rather have been, and no man I would have wanted to build a family with but him.

Although we’d gotten off to a rocky start, I was so thankful we’d had the foresight to try again because the past two years had without question been the best of my life. And with Colton at my side, I could only begin to imagine how wonderful the rest of it would be. As Colton started to sing Sweet Embrace, his eyes never leaving mine, an undeniable fact ran through my mind—life couldn’t get any better than this.
